December Snapshot

Snap shot of December. I really need to take more pictures, I did so much but have so little to show for it. Probably sums up the latter half of December best!

And as a bonus, can you say "granny chic" or what? Sexy shower cap from Boots! This look is the downside of an experiment with enriched coconut oil on my hair, left in overnight as a conditioning treatment! I shall be doing a review in a few weeks on whether it actually has made a difference (I am hoping so, I want glossy locks please!).

Also I just wanted to say a big thank you and "Hello" to everyone who has commented and followed my blog since my last post.  As I am absolutely full of the January blues at the moment, it really brightens up my day! What is it with January, huh?! ♥

Christmas Presents!

This year for Christmas I was spoilt rotten with lovely gifts! My birthday is early on in December too, so getting two lots of gifts within a month certainly leaves me feeling very indulged (not so much midway through the year, however- it does have its downsides!)

I got a Cath Kidston spray flowers dinner set, Womanity by Thierry Mulger,  Grey's Anatomy seasons 1-6 boxset, Alice in Wonderland, The Emperor's New Groove, Soap and Glory You Cube, Jamie's 30 Minute Meals, crystal cut wine glasses, Accessorize lingerie, an aromatherapy oil set, an addictaball, a jewellery roll, and all the usual chocolate, socks, face masks, nail care bits, bath and body stuffs! Also this amazing egg basket which I forgot to add!

One of my favourite things I got has to be my Cath Kidston spray flowers dinner set bought for me by my Gran. I actually work at Cath Kidston so I was a bit flabbergasted that she'd managed to sly that one past me (and I have to admit, slightly horrified that she would have spent so much money as I get staff discount) but she reassured me all was not as it seemed (and has not told me much more!).

My boyfriend out did himself this year and bought me the Topshop leather clutch I had been lusting after and finally gave me the handmade Turkish rug we had bought when we were in Istanbul in September (I knew about this one!). We got it from Punto of Istanbul, which is an amazing 500 year old carpet shop. The inside of the building is painted with the most beautiful murals and the rooms seemed specifically designed for showcasing carpets of varying sizes-vast expanses of wood, leather seats and carpets all the way round. We were shown a $90,000 silk rug which had taken over ten years to make-it was just absolutely mind boggling beautiful but only in our wildest dreams something that we could ever afford, so we settled on a green and purple jewel number that had taken over a year to make (and was both a fraction of the size and a fraction of the price). It's stunning and one of my favourite purchases ever. I can see it being a family heirloom in the future! (The pictures below do no justice, I've got to say!)

I really do feel like the luckiest girl ever this Christmas!

PS.
HAPPY NEW YEAR !
did we all have a good one?

What I Wore

Jumper: New Look
Denim shirt: Charity shop
Skirt: New Look
Tights: Primark
Boots: Topshop
Bag: Coach

Quick outfit post. Excuse the blanked out face, I was pulling THE MOST awkward winky face. The boyfriend snapped these, so I only had the one of this outfit too. I also had work in the evening hence the black bottom half. It makes getting ready mid-afternoon so much easier! The jumper was bought in the New Look sale for me by my Mum as a treat. It's so warm and a lovely mix of rusty reds. Denim shirt (worn underneath) was from a charity shop in Birmingham. Leather Coach bag courtesy of COW vintage! It always amazes me how cheap vintage leather bags are compared with new ones! I've bought good sized vintage leather bags for £2 before now, when for the same size brand new your look at least £40+. Craa-zy.
Hope you all had as lovely Christmas as I did! I got some really lovely things so I'll be doing a post on those soon. What made my Christmas however, was having all my family round on the same day and enjoying festive music, games and good food! :)

What I Wore

Top: Vintage
Jeans: Miss Selfridge Petite
Shoes: River Island
Coat: Topshop
Pocket Watch Necklace: Vintage
Ring: Birthday present off my parents

First day off in forever and I'm out of uniform and into my new jeans-a recent aquasition when Selfridges were doing their Christmas Comes early promotion. They are super comfy and I'm just completely in love with the colour. The cheese cloth top is a purchase made a few years back at a vintage fair in Lincoln. Completely laid back-non effort today- as it should be on my only day off in 8 days! Looking forward to dressing up for work's Christmas do in the Mailbox on Sunday, however!

Brand New is going to be a weekly Monday post featuring one "new" something that I have discovered during the week. Anything goes! !

all images from Donna Wilson

This week on my hunt for Christmas gifts I came across Donna Wilson. This lovely lady creates beautiful knitted scarves, gloves, hats, home furnishings, creatures and prints from her London based studio.  Most of her knitted items come in several colour-ways too, so there is plenty of choice! I'm currently lusting after a pair of her magenta graph mittens and a rainy day large throw. Time to start saving some pennies!

Introduction

WHO?
My name is Katy, or Katy B. I am a twenty-two year old aspiring fashion designer, student and department shoppe worker hailing from Middle England.  I have a lovely boyfriend of four and a half years, and a penchant for design/art/fashion but not necessarily in that order.

WHAT?
Mieux is my pet project, primarily set up to give me something positive to focus my spare time and energy on. A fashion/lifestyle/culture blog I hope to provide original content on a daily basis, although I know with the abundence of fantastic fashion/lifestyle blogs out there that it might be an impossibility! I have lots of ideas, however, and I'm excited to make a start.

WHY?
As briefly mentioned, Mieux has been created to give me something positive to focus on. I hope that it will give me the outlet I need to feel more positive about my life in general. I want to share things that I love and like and feel inspired by and hope that you do too!
